tell me do you think it'd be all right , if i could just crash here tonight

it's been many many months since my last post. far too long.
changing up my friend quinn's quote to find my scenario :
danno is alive and well ( and older ).
i've done some shit (below) and ... that's all i got
rather than try and make up for it with lame excuses, which is the temptation to do after much absence from a blog, i'm just going to post some pictures from a (huge) project that was recently completed.

there are quite a few pictures for the final photo story, and these are just 3 of the 18-20 final images, which are all small crops of them as works in progress. 4 models, 2 agencies, 13 people involved in pulling it off.

wish i could tell more, share more, post more, preview more images...but i'm quite busy.
i'm very important.
i have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.

the best kind of problem to have...

i've had a few secret things that have taken up all of my time.

in order to protect those involved and maintain their anonymity , i've changed/modified/lied/altered/made up details. good luck finding out which ones :)

my entire month of march, i've been absolutely swamped. i've had a HUGE secret project that i've been working on with some very cool people, for the entire month. almost every day was spent working on it. i'm super excited to to talk about it, but it won't be launched for another week or two. so when the website launches, then i can spill the beans.

i've also been working on a secret project for a photo shoot.
it's a collaboration between myself and another photographer. who doesn't shoot fashion. at all.
can't give much details other than to say it's gonna be HOT. literally and metaphorically.
ok, we're going to be shooting godzilla. and i don't mean ann coulter. ZING!
i'm really excited to be working together with another photographer on this kick ass story. i mean really, who sees two separate photographers shooting anything together to make 1 cohesive project without egos getting in the way? i dare to say rarely.

i've been shooting a little in between the planning and development of my first secret project and my second secret project. i'll post those soon. i've been trying out a different feel to the shots with the point of view that i'm showing, it's fun.

with all these things happening, it's the best kind of a problem to have; being busy with work.

time to be super secret some more ;)

SMoCA Nights Fashion Show

i had gotten a call from terri at the agency az a week ago for a fashion show that was being put on at SMoCA ( scottsdale museum of contemporary art ) tonight. she gave me 2 vip tickets to the event and so ashley and i just got home from it. it was a fun time all around.

we got there right at 9pm and the fashion show didn't start until 10 so we looked around at some of the art displayed and had a good time looking at some things , laughing at others and making fun of a bit of it as well.

paid too much for a beer and a 5 ounce cosmo and sat outside. there were some very cool performance artists just wandering around dressed head to toe in white and their skin was all ghost-white as well. while i was getting ashley and i drinks, one of the guys gave ashley a white-stemmed white painted rose.

oh and they moved at 1/10'th the speed of normal. it was awesome.

we sat down for the show and we got to sit on the runway seats , while everyone else had to stand. we felt like pimps among paupers. again, awesome.

here's a few shots before the show started:

starting to fill up.

we had our choice of seating in the vip section. ashley and i chose to be near the end of the runway so we can get a good look as the girls walk to and away from us.

a list of the girls in the show. these are the agency's newest ( not as experienced ) girls. there were a couple we really liked, but a couple of them were busted. give them time, they'll turn out just fine.

it was a good time to sit, relax, enjoy some fashion. much thanks goes to the agency for hooking us up, we had a blast.
very legit.

profoto pro-8a 2400 air

today i was helping photographer mark wallace in studio today with testing out the new profoto pro-8a 2400 air packs. we had two of them in studio and were putting them through their paces.

i offered to come help mark out and to be involved in any way i can after i found out that he was going to be trying these packs out, in real-time via twitter , his blog and uploading behind the scenes shots on flickr. i thought this was brilliant and called him up to see if i could get involved and he was excited to have me come and be a part of it. so all day today from 7am until 5pm, i helped around with setup and assisting where i could, but mostly i was taking non-stop photos of 'behind the scenes' stuff to be uploaded in real time, almost as if i was a fly on the wall at a large scale production. you can see all the photos i shot at mark's flickr account here .
below is a few of such images, with more linked to above.

while i was shooting and these shots were being uploaded, people were writing in questions they had about specifics on the shoot, f stops , shutter speeds, what brand of beauty dish, how far away the key light is from the model, what degree of grid, etc.

and in real time, they were answered with a tweet back as well as a picture that i went out and took just for their question. how flippin cool is that? i think it's a great idea and am happy to support mark in what he's doing with a transparent photo shoot and giving people the ability to be involved regardless of their location or skillset.

oh and one more ps before i sign off :
the studio we were at, loft19, was extremely accomodating and kicked major ass in helping out in every way possible. if you are looking for a top-notch studio, one of the best in arizona, check them out : www.loft19.com

morning

backyard.
pool.
flare.
beauty.

i love being able to take time out from shooting work-related stuff for clients and just take pretty pictures, with the only goal to have fun and share a moment with the person i'm shooting.

she's wonderful.
